About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide patient-centered clinical and administrative support to physicians and healthcare professionals
  • Gather and record vital signs and other pertinent patient information
  • Prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for physician/APP visits and treatments
  • Assist physicians/APPs with patient treatment
  • Carry out orders generated from office visits and respond to patient requests
  • Coordinate tests and follow-up care
  • Record treatment in the medical record
  • Maintain patient safety and support a positive patient experience
  • Assist with front-office operations, including check-in, check-out, scheduling, and other non-clinical functions
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in huddles, staff meetings, workgroups, committees, and quality-improvement initiatives
  • May precept and assist with onboarding or training new team members, trainees, or students
  • Support efficient use of medical supplies and medications and alert supervisors when supplies are low
  • Provide staffing coverage for absences, vacation, and leave
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma General or GED General or Other / Certificate Medical Assisting
  • Current certification from one of the following medical assisting credentialing bodies upon hire: AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), NHA (CCMA), NCCT (NCMA), or NAHP (NRCMA)
  • Current BLS card from the American Heart Association upon hire
  • BLS, ARC-BLS, or BLS-I certification
  • CMA, MEDCA, NCMA, RMA, or CCMA certification
  • Experience in the physician practice setting preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the area or specialty the candidate is applying for preferred
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Ability to engage in teamwork and maintain positive working relationships
  • Must be able to serve patients of all ages
  • Must comply with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
