About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Function under the direction of the Manager Infusion Therapy or designated leader
  • Provide oncology infusion therapy, including hazardous drug therapies for malignant and nonmalignant conditions
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastic agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies
  • Work primarily in an outpatient infusion center, with alternate settings possible
  • Provide safe, age-appropriate, culturally aware, patient-centered care
  • Address patients’ and families’ biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs
  • Deliver patient care in complex situations and serve as a clinical resource to nursing, operational leadership, and medical staff
  • Perform the nursing process using evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking
  • Coordinate care and document safe, quality patient care
  • Provide patient and significant-other education and updates
  • Meet annual chemotherapy competency requirements
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in rounds and case reviews
  • Support performance improvement, research, research utilization, and shared governance
  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nurses, staff, and students
  • Promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement
  • Participate in data collection and address clinical practice questions using appropriate evidence and resources
  • Plan patient care across the care continuum
  • Participate in development of protocols and procedures
  • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma (Nurse) Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Nursing preferred
  • Master's Nursing preferred
  • Minimum 2 years nursing practice in direct patient care required
  • Minimum 2 years outpatient oncology nursing experience preferred
  • Registered Nurse (single state) license
  • RN multi-state compact license
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • BLS Instructor certification
  • Must uphold nursing practice under the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
  • Must meet annual chemotherapy competency requirements
  • Must complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific education
  • Must earn or maintain a specialty oncology certification or obtain 12 continuing education credits annually
