About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take responsibility for WvSC’s transfer activities and shape the interface between research and industrial application
  • Develop and manage Industrial Collective Research (IGF) projects as well as other research, innovation, and technology transfer projects
  • Develop, acquire funding for, and lead publicly funded research and technology transfer projects
  • Coordinate project outlines, funding applications, work plans, project consortia, and exploitation plans
  • Provide technical leadership for data and AI projects from conception through demonstrator development
  • Develop transfer-oriented solutions in digitalization, data management, Industrial AI, and Edge Computing
  • Ensure data quality, model performance, and the technical transferability of developed solutions
  • Translate research findings into industrial applications, pilot projects, demonstrators, and market-ready solutions
  • Lead interdisciplinary project teams and coordinate research, development, and industry partners
  • Develop technology transfer and exploitation strategies and identify application and scaling potential, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Oversee project controlling, milestones, reporting, documentation, and communication with funding bodies
  • Further develop the WvSC Experience Centre as a platform for demonstrations, exchange, and innovation communication
  • Design demonstrators, showcases, workshops, and transfer formats for industry, academia, policymakers, and the public
  • Collaborate with industry, academia, SMEs, and startups to develop solutions for industrial transformation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An outstandingly successful university degree in an engineering or technical-scientific, natural sciences, business, or comparable field
  • A doctorate or comparable academic qualification is expressly desirable
  • Several years of experience leading research, innovation, or technology transfer projects
  • Proven, extensive expertise in Additive Manufacturing
  • Experience developing, applying, and transferring additive and hybrid manufacturing technologies, such as Cold Spray Technology, to industrial research and application scenarios
  • In-depth knowledge of digitalization, data management, Industrial AI, and data-driven transformation processes in industrial environments
  • Experience transferring innovative technologies into industrial applications, pilot projects, or demonstrators
  • Expertise in project management, research funding management, stakeholder management, consortium management, and network management
  • Experience providing technical leadership to interdisciplinary teams and coordinating external development and project partners
  • Strategic, structured, and independent working style
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and networking skills
  • Confident presence when working with companies, research institutions, funding bodies, and public-sector stakeholders
  • Very good German and good English language skills, both written and spoken
