About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Represent Embassy Suites Denver for two hotels in the Denver market
  • Proactively solicit and handle complex accounts, markets, and events with high revenue potential
  • Upsell business opportunities to maximize revenue
  • Achieve personal and team revenue goals for two hotels
  • Support and act on behalf of the Director of Sales in their absence
  • Build department revenue according to sales strategy guidelines
  • Identify revenue opportunities based on event profiles
  • Manage customer budgets and upsell products and services
  • Forecast group sleeping rooms and revenue before and after turnover
  • Target key accounts and segments through proactive solicitation and account saturation
  • Identify, qualify, and solicit new business
  • Respond to incoming inquiries for both hotels within four hours
  • Participate in Revenue Management Team meetings and support need-time strategy development
  • Close opportunities based on market conditions and hotel needs
  • Analyze market conditions, competitors, economic trends, supply, and demand
  • Build customer relationships through sales calls, entertainment, and FAM trips
  • Conduct customer site inspections and create sales contracts
  • Maintain knowledge of both hotel properties, amenities, operations, positioning, and selling strategies
  • Coordinate event details with customers and follow up after events
  • Greet customers during events and hand off execution details to the Sales & Catering Coordinator
  • Resolve event problems and suggest alternatives
  • Ensure high-level guest service and customer satisfaction
  • Obtain guest feedback, handle complaints, and review guest service results
  • Participate in corrective action plans and continuous improvement
  • Use Delphi or another hotel system to capture and manage customer information
  • Demonstrate leadership, accountability, decision-making, talent development, self-development, and knowledge sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive sales experience
  • Knowledge of full-service hotel operations
  • Group rooms and catering experience
  • Aggressive negotiating skills and creative selling abilities
  • Ability to conduct Internet research
  • Weekly prospecting and soliciting goals
  • Effective sales skills to upsell products and services
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, banquet and event service operations
  • Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories
  • Broad understanding of facility management, including sanitation, maintenance, and operations
  • Customer development and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations
  • Knowledge of event technology products and services
  • Knowledge of contract management and legalities
  • Financial management skills, including P&L statements, operating budgets, forecasting, and scheduling
  • Strong verbal, listening, and writing communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, presentation, organizational, closing, persuasion, decision-making, and influence skills
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds
