About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide independent assurance over the effectiveness of cyber security controls across the organisation
  • Deliver meaningful insights and measurable outcomes using data-driven metrics
  • Track cyber control compliance, assess performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Mentor and advise colleagues through coaching and guidance
  • Support the Service Owner in achieving the team’s objectives
  • Drive cyber assurance activities and influence stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of security excellence across the business
  • Lead and coordinate remediation of critical and zero-day security vulnerabilities
  • Partner with vendors, service owners, and product teams
  • Develop and report on cyber security metrics, controls assurance, and compliance performance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in technology, with demonstrated expertise in cyber assurance, vulnerability management, and security remediation
  • Strong technical knowledge of web security technologies, networking, and enterprise IT infrastructure
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate the remediation of critical and zero-day security vulnerabilities
  • Solid understanding of network architecture principles and enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Knowledge of internet security, communication protocols, and directory services standards
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and virtualisation technologies
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance obligations within the financial services sector
  • Knowledge of industry security frameworks, standards, and best practices, including ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and NIST
  • Experience using issue and workflow management tools, such as Atlassian Jira
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments, managing competing priorities and urgent security risks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience developing and reporting on cyber security metrics, controls assurance, and compliance performance
  • Ability to build effective relationships across business and technology teams and drive positive security outcomes through collaboration
  • Ability to work in New Zealand, implied by the New Zealand-specific role and application context
