About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide full district leadership on temporary or interim assignments, including district vacancies, leaves of absence, and leadership transitions
  • Assess newly assigned districts, including stores, teams, KPIs, and market conditions, and create prioritized action plans
  • Maintain or improve revenue, occupancy, profitability, and company KPI standards
  • Stabilize and support underperforming districts or stores
  • Support onboarding and lease-up of acquired, converted, and newly opened facilities
  • Provide transition reports covering store status, team assessments, KPI trends, and open action items
  • Identify high-potential managers and recommend them for development and advancement
  • Develop and execute strategies for district-level revenue, occupancy, profitability, growth, and efficiency goals
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive district culture and ensure effective communication
  • Coordinate facility conversions, openings, and other special projects
  • Review store environments and business indicators, identify issues and opportunities, and coach store employees
  • Monitor competitors through competitor property visits
  • Oversee store financial performance, KPIs, controllable expenses, rental rates, discounts, and tenant protection plans
  • Solicit customer feedback and follow up on customer service issues
  • Analyze financial reports and address district performance trends
  • Perform monthly site audits and inspections
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Coach store managers on repairs and maintenance and ensure use of the company maintenance program/tool
  • Supervise, interview, hire, train, and evaluate site and property management employees
  • Enforce company policies and procedures and schedule employee work hours
  • Attract and retain talent and develop store management teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Communicate with leadership, mid-level management, and facility employees

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years of work-related experience and/or training in retail sales, retail, customer service, sales management, and/or multi-unit management
  • Prior district-level or multi-unit leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Exceptional leadership skills and experience supervising others
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Weekend availability may occasionally be required
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and accept assignments in different districts on short notice
  • Temporary relocation or extended stays away from home may be required
  • Eagerness and work ethic to succeed in a customer service environment
  • General office and telephone skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team player
  • Ability to quickly build credibility and rapport with new teams and adapt leadership style across districts and markets
  • Comfortable with change, ambiguity, and shifting priorities
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely as necessary
  • Must maintain and hold a valid State Driver's License if driving for Company business
  • Ability to perform essential physical functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must pass a post-offer, pre-hire background screening, including a multi-state criminal check and DMV records
