About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide full district leadership on temporary or interim assignments, including vacancies, leaves of absence, and leadership transitions
- Assess newly assigned districts, stores, teams, KPIs, and market conditions, then build prioritized action plans
- Maintain or improve revenue, occupancy, profitability, and company KPI standards
- Stabilize and support underperforming districts and stores
- Support onboarding and lease-up of acquired, converted, and newly opened facilities
- Provide end-of-assignment transitions with store status, team assessments, KPI trends, and open action items
- Identify and recommend high-potential managers for development and advancement
- Develop and execute district strategies to achieve revenue, occupancy, and profitability targets
- Foster collaboration and communication across teams and departments
- Coordinate facility conversions, openings, and other special projects
- Review store environments and business indicators, identify issues and opportunities, and coach store employees
- Monitor competition through competitor property visits
- Oversee store financial performance, KPIs, controllable expenses, rental rates, discounts, and tenant protection plans
- Solicit customer feedback and resolve customer service issues
- Analyze financial reports and address district performance trends
- Perform monthly site audits and inspections
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Coach store managers on repairs and maintenance and ensure use of the company maintenance program/tool
- Supervise employees; interview and hire site managers
- Train Property Managers, Assistant Managers, District Trainers, and Senior Managers
- Evaluate employee performance and enforce company policies and procedures
- Schedule employee work hours
- Attract and retain talent and develop store management teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Equivalent of 3-5 years of work-related experience and/or training in retail sales, retail, customer service, sales management, and/or multi-unit management
- Prior district-level or multi-unit leadership experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional leadership skills and experience supervising others
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Weekend availability may occasionally be required
- Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time and accept assignments in different districts on short notice
- Temporary relocation or extended stays away from home may be required
- Eagerness and work ethic to succeed in a customer service environment
- General office and telephone skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively
- Ability to quickly build credibility and rapport with new teams and adapt leadership style across districts and markets
- Comfort with change, ambiguity, and shifting priorities
- Ability and willingness to work remotely as necessary
- Valid State Driver’s License when driving for Company business
- Ability to perform essential physical functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must pass a post-offer, pre-hire background screening including a multi-state criminal check and DMV records
