About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and grow a significant client portfolio, serving as the senior advisor on complex matters
- Act as final reviewer and release authority on work leaving the firm for the portfolio, within defined risk parameters
- Escalate engagements above the stated dollar or risk threshold, attest opinions, novel technical positions, and key strategic relationships to a Partner
- Provide technical guidance on the most difficult tax, accounting, and regulatory issues
- Oversee quality control across the practice area
- Drive portfolio profitability through pricing, capacity management, and operational efficiency
- Lead and develop Managers, building accountability and growth in the tier below
- Champion technology adoption, process improvement, and use of centralized platform resources
- Participate in firm governance, committees, and leadership forums
- Report to the partners, with Managers and their teams reporting through the role
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in accounting or tax; Master's or advanced degree preferred
- CPA required where attest sign off or licensure demands it; an exceptional Tax or CAS leader may be considered without a CPA
- Significant experience with demonstrated leadership at the Manager level or above
- Technical depth to advise on the most complex situations in the service line
- Strong executive presence and relationship management with clients, team members, and outside stakeholders
- Track record of contributing to practice management and firm operations
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and retain teams
- Active involvement in professional or community leadership preferred
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
