About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design products relevant to the White Stuff brand DNA
  • Support the senior design team in creating seasonal top-line trend boards and themes
  • Design fashion must-haves that are brand-relevant under the Senior and Head of Design
  • Develop and identify new fabric bases with key suppliers within brand and price architecture
  • Visit trade shows and undertake sourcing trips with the senior team as needed, producing reports on emerging trends and themes
  • Review competitor activity and provide feedback to the wider team
  • Design new products identified by the senior team to drive the brand forward
  • Support the senior designer in creating unique design packs from sketch stage to ready-to-brief specification packs
  • Share design work with senior management at sketch and swatch sign-offs
  • Deliver work in line with the critical path
  • Create clear and concise range boards at sign-off stage
  • Participate in regular team meetings and share trend and competitor information
  • Maintain effective internal and external communication
  • Keep the line manager updated on design development and allow input before sign-off
  • Support product handwriting delivery alongside the print design team, contributing to innovation, growth, and cohesive seasonal collections

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience working as an established assistant designer or junior designer for a supplier or another retailer in a similar role
  • Good organizational skills, able to work at pace, meeting critical path deadlines
  • Good team player, resilient, pro-active and able to work creatively both autonomously when needed and as part of the wider design team
  • Fully CAD literate within Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint
  • A good sense of shape and style
  • Relevant technical knowledge, with some experience sourcing fabrics and trims
  • Able to create factory ready print work sheets, liaising directly with factories to ensure commercial yet creative prints are actioned
  • Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to keep the customer front of mind while developing and designing new products
  • Attention to detail from concept through product execution
