About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and maintain application phases
Contribute to all phases of the development life cycle
Write well-designed, testable, efficient code
Ensure designs comply with specifications
Recommend changes to improve established application processes
Prepare and produce software component releases
Develop application code programs
Develop and execute unit test plans
Support formal testing and resolve test defects
Provide technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions
Build cutting-edge solutions within the Iris platform’s engine layer
Work with engineers and developers to design tools providing technical solutions to complex questions
Report to the VP of Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need

Active TS/SCI or eligibility to be cleared
Must be a US citizen
Must reside in the contiguous United States
Must be a W2 employee of GeoDelphi, Inc.; no third-party applications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a software engineering role
Expert with at least one programming language and good experience with several others, including Python, React, or Java
Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google, or Rackspace
Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software
Strong coding abilities emphasizing quality and testability
Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes
Experience with continuous integration and software configuration management tools/processes, including GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization
Experience acquiring client requirements and resolving workflow problems through automation optimization
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within small teams
Desired: experience with AWS SDK, AWS API, AWS CLI, and AWS CloudFormation
Desired: experience with population simulation or other data simulation
Desired: experience with geospatial engineering
Desired: experience with Big Data processing tools such as Spark/Hadoop, Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and EMR
Desired: strong data visualization skills
