About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the firm’s safety programs, program development, and safety training for office and field personnel
  • Develop, update, and maintain firmwide safety programs and procedures compliant with OSHA, state, and U.S. government safety regulations
  • Provide OSHA 10-hour, 30-hour, and HAZWOPER training
  • Maintain WRA’s Safety Program and Policies in the Employee Handbook and intranet
  • Publish safety bulletins and events, safety certifications, and training opportunities
  • Manage client safety programs for construction projects
  • Oversee dedicated construction site safety auditors
  • Develop quarterly safety audit reports
  • Review contractor health and safety plans
  • Conduct random site safety audits for construction projects and field operations
  • Provide safety training and issue safety equipment to assigned field personnel based on job-specific risks and hazards
  • Prepare Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for Federal clients during facility site visits and investigations
  • Review contractors’ safety plans for compliance with construction contract submittal requirements
  • Attend pre-construction meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of ten (10) years full-time safety inspection for construction site safety audits, including development of site safety audit reports and preparation of Accident Prevention Plans (APPs)
  • Minimum High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related degree may be substituted for years of experience
  • Familiarity with preparing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) for WRA site or field visits in accordance with Safety Program and OSHA Requirements
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification required
  • OSHA 500 preferred
  • American Red Cross First Aid Safety Certification required
  • Basic computer skills (Word & Excel) desirable
  • Experience using construction safety software applications and ArcGIS applications desirable
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and personal vehicle for travel to and from assigned construction sites
  • Experience and knowledge in construction site safety requirements
  • Experience accessing confined spaces and ability to climb ladders and scaffolding to access remote high-level work areas and traverse rough terrain for long distances
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform physical field tasks including walking across rough terrain, climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles, using fall-protection harnesses, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions
  • Ability to remain standing or sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to function safely amid environmental, noise, and confined-space hazards
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States full-time without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship
