About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver medium-complexity initiatives from technical discovery through delivery
  • Break down initiatives into features, drive estimation, manage scope, identify risks, and support pragmatic tradeoffs
  • Create mobile Wikipedia product experiences for global, multilingual audiences across web and app surfaces
  • Design and build accessible, adaptable, scalable, and reusable frontend components
  • Create and maintain RESTful APIs, schemas, contracts, monitoring, and scalable data pipelines
  • Build software that is testable, observable, and debuggable
  • Instrument features for deeper analysis by Product Analysts
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, analysts, and native app engineers
  • Identify technical opportunities and risks, clarify priorities and sequencing, and align teams on outcomes and capacity
  • Follow standards for code review, technical design, testing, documentation, accessibility, observability, and decision-making
  • Plan work with awareness of downstream and upstream effects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree and 5-10+ years of related professional experience, with significant experience building production web applications and services
  • Strong professional experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, and backend languages such as PHP
  • Experience building responsive or mobile-first web experiences, with attention to performance, accessibility, and usability
  • Experience designing and integrating with server-side APIs
  • Experience delivering in a self-driven, lean environment
  • Commitment to the Foundation's Mission and Values
  • Applicants outside the US must have current work authorization in their location
