About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee quality, safety, and environmental compliance across manufacturing, supply chain, and retail operations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, certifications, and internal policies
  • Monitor UK, EU, and global food supplement regulations, including FSA, EFSA, and MHRA
  • Translate legal and regulatory updates into actionable business steps
  • Liaise with trade associations and regulatory bodies
  • Support compliance for expansion into new export markets
  • Manage the health and nutrition claims register
  • Review and sign off product labels, marketing materials, and website content
  • Own compliance gates for new product development and product launches
  • Nurture and develop the Quality Management System
  • Curate technical documentation, including TDS, MSDS, and Certificates of Conformance
  • Manage product testing schedules
  • Lead CAPA processes and address complaints and non-conformances
  • Maintain and develop site certifications, including GMP, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, SALSA, Soil Association, and Vegan Society
  • Support B Corp status through environmental and social governance data collection and reporting
  • Manage the internal audit programme and host third-party certification bodies
  • Vet and onboard suppliers against ethical, sustainability, and quality standards
  • Deliver compliance training across departments
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on risks, achievements, and compliance health

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Law, or Business
  • 3–5+ years of compliance experience in food, nutraceuticals, or regulated FMCG
  • Strong grip on UK food supplement/labelling laws (FSA & EFSA)
  • Knowledge of certification frameworks (BRCGS, FSSC 22000, SALSA, or GMP)
  • Experience writing SOPs
  • Experience managing a QMS
  • Experience handling CAPA/complaints
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Legendary attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate across NPD, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Experience with B Corp data, Soil Association Organic, MSC, or Vegan Society standards (nice-to-have)
  • Global export knowledge (US, Canada, Australia) or MHRA borderline assessments (nice-to-have)
  • Membership with a professional body (IFST, RSB) (nice-to-have)
