About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise and oversee audit planning, fieldwork, report preparation, and communication of findings and recommendations
  • Facilitate detailed audit test work and oversee documentation of results in audit work papers
  • Provide guidance and train team members
  • Review work papers, financial statements, and reports for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and detail
  • Track engagement progress and budget
  • Resolve accounting, auditing, and reporting problems
  • Create work plans and timelines for project deliverables
  • Perform critical test procedures
  • Provide daily supervision of project staff
  • Act as liaison between project staff and project manager
  • Independently perform significant engagement segments
  • Demonstrate project management and inspire teamwork
  • Assist with proposal writing and business development efforts
  • Work with federal government audit engagements and clients domestically and internationally

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university
  • 5 or more years of relevant professional experience as an accountant or consultant for a public accounting firm or professional services firm
  • Familiarity with GAO Financial Audit Manual (FAM)
  • Intermediate understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Familiarity with AICPA, GAO, and FASAB standards and guidance
  • Ability to perform financial, program, grant, and compliance audits
  • Ability to draft financial and program audit reports
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • A master’s degree in accounting is nice to have
  • CPA license is nice to have
  • Minimum project-specific or Secret security clearance required within the first year of employment
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, with some evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Travel may be required
