About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle sophisticated trust, estate, probate, fiduciary, and inheritance disputes
- Assess complex legal and factual issues and anticipate challenges
- Manage discovery and develop effective case strategies
- Advocate persuasively through trial, including written advocacy and oral argument
- Negotiate and counsel clients on complex legal matters
- Manage expert witnesses, investigators, opposing counsel, and other participants in complex litigation
- Cultivate referral relationships, deepen client engagements, and develop new business
- Contribute to the continued growth of the litigation practice and firm
- Collaborate with attorneys across Trusts & Estates, Business and Tax, Real Estate, Labor & Employment, and Litigation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ten or more years of substantial civil trial experience handling complex trust, estate, probate, fiduciary, and inheritance disputes
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex legal and factual issues, anticipate challenges, manage discovery, develop effective case strategies, and advocate persuasively through trial
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly through written advocacy, oral argument, negotiation, and client counsel
- Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and professional advisors
- Sound judgment, initiative, reliability, and accountability
- Ability to manage demanding timelines, multiple priorities, expert witnesses, investigators, opposing counsel, and other participants in complex litigation
- Strong professional reputation and active approach to cultivating referral relationships, deepening client engagements, developing new business, and contributing to practice and firm growth
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in The Florida Bar in good standing
- Portable book of business highly preferred
