About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design the structure of specific IT systems and supervise programs to ensure proper architecture implementation
  • Apply technical skills and collaborate with internal and external business partners to create vision and roadmap
  • Provide technical governance through creation or modification of technical standards, models, application tiers, and reference architectures
  • Lead technical consulting and collaborate with development teams on solution design and roadmap-aligned architecture enhancements
  • Translate business requirements into repeatable design strategies, system qualities, and patterns
  • Develop current-state and target-state architecture blueprints with transition roadmaps and incremental sequencing
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies and standards aligned with Williams strategies
  • Advise IT and business leadership on technology enablement for business capabilities
  • Foster collaboration and alignment between technical teams and stakeholders
  • Partner with cybersecurity, identity and access management, and data governance teams on secure, private, compliant, and responsible AI architectures
  • Define reusable AI architecture patterns and reference implementations, including RAG, event-driven AI services, agent-based workflows, and AI-assisted field operations
  • Drive adoption of AI architecture patterns across product and project teams
  • Mentor developers, analysts, and business stakeholders on AI capabilities, constraints, and safe-use patterns
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience developing software systems and in IT
  • Preferred: minimum twelve (12) years’ experience
  • Preferred: prior oil/gas industry experience
  • Less than 20% travel required, including possible international travel
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and predictive analytics
  • Practical experience applying cloud-based AI, generative AI, data, and integration services in Azure, AWS, GCP, or equivalent platforms
  • Understanding of AI governance and responsible AI principles, including data privacy, regulatory considerations, security and access control, model risk, bias mitigation, explainability, human-in-the-loop oversight, and AI solution evaluation and monitoring
  • Proficiency in AI and generative AI architecture, including LLMs, RAG, AI agents, model integration, and reusable enterprise AI solution patterns
  • Proficient knowledge of architecture principles, frameworks, and standards
  • Experience designing and maintaining large-scale projects
  • Strong analytical and data analysis capabilities
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Broad working knowledge of infrastructure and operations, data centers, databases, networking, and security standards
  • Effective leadership and consulting skills
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities, including teamwork, facilitation, negotiation, targeted communication, stakeholder engagement, and internal partner management
  • Awareness of existing, emerging, and new technologies
  • Proficient knowledge of scripting concepts and how scripts operate
