About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform geotechnical engineering investigations and evaluations
- Assist with project planning, proposals, scope development, and scheduling
- Analyze subsurface conditions and develop engineering recommendations
- Prepare geotechnical reports, calculations, and technical documentation
- Coordinate drilling, laboratory testing, and field investigations
- Perform construction observations, quality assurance, and quality control activities
- Support foundation, earthwork, pavement, and retaining wall recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Assist with project budgeting and tracking
- Work on commercial, industrial, transportation, and public infrastructure projects
- Support projects from initial exploration through construction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 2–3 years of geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver's license
- Geotechnical engineering emphasis preferred
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred
- Experience with GDOT or other DOT projects preferred
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and engineering recommendations preferred
- Interest in obtaining PE licensure preferred
