About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review annual employee benefit tax returns and unrelated business income tax returns for a large and diverse client base
  • Review relevant state income tax returns and annual state charitable registration forms
  • Research and resolve tax-exempt organization tax issues
  • Review Employee Benefit Plan Forms 5500, exempt organization returns such as Forms 990, 990-PF and 990-T, C Corp., S Corp., partnership income, fiduciary tax returns, and individual returns as time permits
  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities
  • Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines
  • Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly
  • Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader
  • Take a lead role in all aspects of audit engagements from planning to completion
  • Supervise and mentor staff
  • Build and maintain client relationships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA license, JD or a Master of Science in Taxation
  • At least 5 years of prior experience working in the tax department of a public accounting firm
  • Experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff
  • Excellent analytical and technical tax skills
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
