About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and refine components for Index, Wizeline's core design system, including new components, edge-case improvements, accessibility requirements, and multi-brand applications.
- Maintain and organize Figma libraries so they are clearly structured, well documented, and easy for designers to use.
- Create documentation explaining when and how to use components correctly.
- Work with design tokens and Figma variables to support theming, multi-brand needs, and maintainability at scale.
- Help bridge Index and product-area extensions so patterns flow appropriately between core and specialized libraries.
- Partner with engineering on design-to-code alignment when needed.
- Work independently while communicating progress and blockers through async collaboration.
- Maintain high standards of precision and consistency in design systems work.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time spent working on or contributing to design systems.
- A portfolio showing design systems work—whether building components, creating documentation, or establishing patterns.
- Strong Figma skills, including experience with component architecture, variants, auto-layout, and variables.
- Experience with design tokens and an understanding of how they enable theming, consistency, and multi-brand support.
- Solid understanding of design fundamentals—typography, spacing, color, and interaction patterns.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how they apply to component design.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own priorities.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, or a related field.
- AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation.
- Understanding of how design systems connect to code (CSS, React component APIs, etc.).
- Experience with design system versioning and contribution workflows.
- Familiarity with multi-brand or white-label design system challenges.
- Experience working with distributed or fully remote teams.
- Background in news media, publishing, or content-heavy products.
- Knowledge of design system tooling beyond Figma (Storybook, Zeroheight, etc.).
