About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the end-to-end UL listing and NSF certification process for new food automation products
  • Translate UL and NSF standards into clear design requirements for Mechanical, Electrical, and Software teams
  • Serve as primary liaison with UL, NSF, and other testing laboratories
  • Facilitate compliance testing, manage field evaluations, and resolve technical questions during certification
  • Identify and conduct product testing, including heating tests, ground-bonding verification, mechanical safety assessments, and material compatibility validation
  • Suggest alternative NRTLs and determine acceptable and required NRTLs with stakeholders
  • Maintain certification records and documentation, including UL critical components lists, testing requirements and procedures, and NSF Food Zone materials
  • Handle UL and NSF purchase orders, invoicing, and vendor relationships
  • Audit and maintain production Bills of Materials for UL and NSF compliance
  • Work with contract manufacturers during Initial Production Inspections and periodic audits
  • Research alternate materials conforming to NSF/UL standards and establish supplier contacts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 4+ years of experience working with UL or a similar NRTL to obtain or maintain product listings
  • Experience performing testing to UL or similar NRTL standards
  • Experience using dataloggers, thermistors, and mechanical safety testing equipment
  • Experience participating in the new product design process to flag potential compliance issues early and influence design decisions
  • Bonus: Experience working with NSF standards, specifically NSF 2, 4, 7, 18, 51, 169, and/or 170
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to manage multiple certification projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and BOMs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative approach to resolving compliance challenges and finding practical solutions
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site field evaluations, including up to 1 day per week to the contract manufacturer in Westborough
  • Minimum 3 days a week in the office, with additional days as needed based on project demands
