About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform end-to-end identification and mapping of legacy, enterprise, and custom applications across on-premises and cloud infrastructures using discovery tools and stakeholder interviews
Analyze application hosting environments, database dependencies, network protocols, server configurations, authentication methods, and data flows
Conduct technical discovery interviews with System Owners, Application Owners, Lead Developers, and Systems Engineers to complete detailed application profiles and questionnaires
Document upstream and downstream dependencies, application interconnections, API integrations, and user access patterns to minimize service disruption during migrations or security policy deployments
Maintain accurate records in Configuration Management Databases (CMDB), Application Portfolio Management (APM) tools, or discovery repositories
Identify technical debt, legacy protocols, obsolete frameworks, and potential blockers that could hinder application migration or security capability integration
Assist in drafting technical artifacts, dependency matrices, application discovery reports, and executive summaries to inform project roadmaps and leadership decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical discipline
Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in IT application discovery, systems analysis, application rationalization, or enterprise cloud/IT migration projects
Must possess an active U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret clearance required)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical documentation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Must have CompTIA Security+ CE (Current)/ IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
Hands-on experience with enterprise application architectures, web services, database structures, and network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, LDAP, SAML, TLS)
Familiarity with enterprise IT discovery and inventory tools such as ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Helix, Device42, AppDynamics, or similar APM/discovery tools
Demonstrated experience conducting structured interviews and technical assessments with cross-functional teams
Exposure to Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles, Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM), or FedRAMP compliance standards
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid enterprise architectures
Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) or database querying (SQL) for data extraction and validation
