About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and develop regional Contracts team members and coordinate priorities across the business
  • Undertake and oversee client contract reviews in accordance with Wood's contracting policy
  • Oversee contract qualifications to ensure appropriate risk balance
  • Provide contract terms and issues overviews to senior management and execution teams
  • Provide contracts input into tender governance and proposals
  • Advise businesses on client contracting and negotiation strategies and terms
  • Support delivery of commercial deliverables such as bonds, PCGs, and evidence of insurance
  • Manage preparation, negotiation, establishment, and administration of unincorporated joint ventures and partnering agreements
  • Build stakeholder relationships and identify strategies to avoid or mitigate contractual risks
  • Support commercial handovers for awarded contracts
  • Lead continuous improvement, including Contract Lifecycle Management system advancement and future AI legal tool implementation
  • Ensure commercial policies are understood and applied
  • Provide contract governance and assurance and recommend corrective actions
  • Develop contract flow-down requirements for supplier NDAs, purchase orders, and subcontracts
  • Assist with pursuing Wood's claims and defending claims against Wood
  • Represent Wood in industry-wide contract initiatives, seminars, and workgroups

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree required in one of: Law, Quantity Surveying, or Business Degree
  • Line management experience of a team located across multiple international locations
  • Contract & Commercial experience in engineering and construction projects in one or more of: oil & gas, mining, power, infrastructure and environmental industries
  • Demonstrable experience and proven track record of contract review, drafting, and negotiation in a service company environment
  • Experience across industries in which Wood operates, with understanding of associated risks and exposure
  • Experience negotiating and setting up JVs, MOUs, bidding agreements, and consortium agreements
  • Expert knowledge of contract terms, contract principles, and drafting and rollout of contracting policies
  • Working knowledge of Company Finance and HR systems
  • Awareness of relevant corporate and project procedures
  • Excellent understanding of client contract structures, principles, and policies
  • Extensive experience with standard contract model forms, including NEC, FIDIC, JCT, LOGIC or regional equivalents
  • Relevant client-facing contracting experience
  • High level of commercial/business acumen supported with SME contractual knowledge
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, people management, strategic, communication, planning, relationship-building, mentoring, and coaching capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities
