About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive execution of the program vision as a participant within a support or enterprise project development team
  • Review and contribute to the program vision, roadmap, and content presentations for Program Increment Planning
  • Assess product usefulness and explain functionality to users
  • Coordinate resolutions involving system- or application-level changes for business-reported incidents
  • Monitor new features and releases and coordinate upgrades with Business Technology and stakeholders
  • Liaise between the development team, stakeholders, and senior leadership to define product features and user stories
  • Manage the backlog and prioritize stories with the Product Manager, System Architect/Engineering, and key stakeholders
  • Negotiate scope, priority, commitments, and schedule for backlog work involving multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Inspect and evaluate product progress through each iteration, including demos, and determine whether the final product is acceptable
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including Program Increment Planning, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews
  • Collaborate with other WoodmenLife Product Owners to exchange ideas on product features
  • Understand how risks, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints affect delivery and release plans
  • Perform functional-level product configurations when applicable
  • Set and adapt administrative rules for product usage; monitor and report on product usage, performance, and productivity
  • Set up users and assign user rights within the product
  • Create user-level and administrative-level workflows
  • Meet attendance and punctuality expectations
  • Perform other duties assigned by management and occasional tasks supporting development-team release commitments
  • Abide by company security policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience as an Agile Product Owner or as an Agile Business Analyst in a product-facing capacity
  • Knowledge and experience with agile user story management, user story elicitation, stakeholder management, backlog grooming/management, and change management
  • Ability to create meaningful features and user stories meeting I.N.V.E.S.T. standards
  • Understanding of techniques for splitting larger stories to produce user value within each iteration or release
  • Solid understanding of Agile practices and principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and product management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Experience with solution development using Scrum, Kanban, or a hybrid of the two
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business customers
  • Ability to establish credibility in new subject areas and with various areas of business
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and proactively achieve desired outcomes using supporting technology applications across a broad user base
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with executives, management, project team members, subject matter experts, and front-line users
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision while being an integral part of the team
  • Ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive, and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service
