About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead all agency print production, flexographic packaging execution and trade show production
  • Estimate, schedule and deliver physical production projects on time and within budget
  • Collaborate across agency disciplines and maintain strategic relationships with external suppliers
  • Manage complex packaging databases and ongoing packaging updates
  • Oversee daily workflows across multiple print, packaging and trade show projects
  • Participate in kickoff meetings, internal reviews and weekly project status meetings
  • Identify schedule risks or technical issues and communicate solutions to project teams
  • Estimate production scopes and assist with pricing development
  • Obtain 2–3 competitive quotes from vetted vendors
  • Build and maintain vendor references covering capabilities, pricing, quality standards and turnaround times
  • Manage timelines, delivery schedules and supplier shipment approvals
  • Review invoices, resolve billing discrepancies and collaborate on accurate billings and markups
  • Work with creative teams to ensure quality and craft execution
  • Review, route and approve printer proofs and attend on-site press checks when necessary
  • Review and verify technical production specifications with the studio
  • Review and approve packaging templates and proofread mechanical artwork
  • Audit packaging and print files for prepress readiness, color separations, traps, bleeds and brand consistency
  • Review publication resizes according to approved media plans
  • Route and release final packaging assets to printers and converters
  • Supervise production personnel, provide training and assignments, enforce policies, participate in hiring criteria, conduct one-on-ones and performance reviews, and provide coaching and mentorship

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts Technology Management, Print Media, Packaging Science, Communications or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience leading print production and consumer packaged goods packaging execution
  • Deep expertise in commercial prepress and flexographic printing process required
  • Advanced computer skills relevant to daily print production management, packaging database routing and financial tracking
  • Exceptional attention to detail, radical personal accountability, strong work ethic and strategic problem-solving abilities
  • Passion for the production industry with a drive to continuously evaluate new tools, prepress techniques and sustainable materials
  • Full familiarity with client products, regulatory packaging guidelines and retail environments
  • High-level collaboration skills to align multiple agency disciplines around seamless physical executions
  • Experience supervising production, specialist, coordinator and administrative personnel
  • Ability to conduct staff orientation, technical training, work assignments, one-on-ones, conflict resolution, performance reviews and technical coaching
