About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead mechanical HVAC and plumbing system design from concept through construction documentation and support construction administration
- Oversee project scope and schedule
- Perform mechanical HVAC and plumbing engineering technical work on complex projects
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus
- Conduct technical reviews and QA/QC reviews for code-compliant, high-quality deliverables
- Develop and modify mechanical and plumbing models, plans, details, and drawings
- Perform energy modeling using COMcheck and EnergyGauge
- Mentor staff and support team members’ career and technical skill development
- Conduct training sessions for internal employees when necessary
- Coordinate design documents between disciplines
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and 10 or more years related experience
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading engineering projects
- Expertise in complex air-side and water-side HVAC systems, including chilled water and condenser water systems, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, DOEAS, RTUs, VAV Systems, CRAC/CRAH units, and energy recovery units/systems
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls
- Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Expert verbal and written communication abilities
- Experience with discipline-related software applications and calculation tools
- Substantial experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing construction documents
- Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordinating design documents between disciplines
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex scientific and technical documents
- Proficient in MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office suite
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or business community members
- Ability to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media content
- Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties
- Willing to travel to project sites or offices as needed
