About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide short-term therapeutic counselling through in-person and virtual modalities
  • Provide short-term counselling to couples and families, including parents and children
  • Conduct assessments and develop appropriate counselling goals and service plans
  • Support clients with communication, family conflict, parenting challenges, relationship stress, and related issues
  • Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive counselling
  • Make referrals to internal and external services as needed
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client case notes and records
  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and team meetings
  • Maintain service data for reporting, evaluation, and program improvement
  • Liaise and collaborate with community partners and other service providers
  • Provide support letters or service confirmation letters where appropriate
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
  • Registration in good standing with a relevant regulatory college in Ontario, a must
  • Experience providing couples counselling and family counselling
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and client-centred practice
  • Experience working with women, children, and families impacted by violence, trauma, family conflict, or relational stress is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral pathways in York Region is an asset
  • Excellent assessment, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
