About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead frontline community outreach operations so food aid reaches disaster-affected communities quickly
  • Conduct rapid community assessments and identify urgent food needs
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and manage locally driven community outreach teams and Corps members
  • Build trusting, culturally competent relationships with diverse communities
  • Respond to disaster areas within four hours' notice, usually for activations lasting approximately four weeks
  • Design and implement adaptable response strategies in natural-disaster and conflict environments
  • Consult on response scope and manage or implement community outreach operations
  • Provide regular operational updates to the Response Director
  • Collaborate with WCK departments, procurement, logistics, finance, and local stakeholders
  • Ensure transitions and handovers between Activation Managers and rotating Response Corps teams
  • Complete After-Action Reports and capture process-improvement learnings
  • Gather beneficiary feedback and recommend response scale-up or wind-down strategies
  • Share cost projections for meal production and logistical needs
  • Source materials and supplies and ensure timely delivery to affected areas
  • Represent World Central Kitchen as an ambassador to beneficiaries, partners, and media
  • Perform other responsibilities and special projects as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to spend up to 70% of the time in the field
  • Must live within one (1) hour of an international airport or be willing to relocate
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote and potentially hazardous locations within four hours notice
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent preferred, or 5+ years of experience in management roles
  • Experience in fast-paced, ever-changing environments, preferably military, emergency response, culinary, humanitarian, or event management settings
  • Experience leading, training, and coaching large teams in challenging and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to synthesize a large volume of information into actionable steps under pressure
  • Ability to work independently with minimal infrastructure and resources
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments with austere living conditions
  • Ability to work well with others and take directions to protect yourself and the team
  • Demonstrated negotiation and diplomacy skills in complex and potentially volatile situations
  • Calm and composed demeanor during crisis situations, with capacity to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Physical fitness and stamina to work long hours doing physically demanding tasks in varying and potentially extreme climates
  • Strong mental resilience and emotional intelligence to cope with stressors associated with working in conflict environments
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with local communities
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish, French, or Portuguese highly desirable
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must have a valid Passport
  • Must already hold the right to work in Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Poland, Portugal, or the Philippines
