About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform operational coordination and administration of air operations in compliance with WFP standards and risk management processes
  • Liaise with airport officials and local authorities to obtain clearances, documentation, and authorizations
  • Carry out pre-flight actions to ensure registered passengers and cargo are carried, coordinating with crew and escalating issues
  • Collate post-flight documentation to confirm flights and compliance with established conditions
  • Research, collate, and report aviation-related information for decision-making, air transportation planning, execution, reporting, and contractual performance
  • Update and maintain databases and records for accurate, organized, accessible information and reporting
  • Respond to client queries using standard processes, obtaining guidance or escalating as required
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to align aviation activities with wider programmes
  • Support other staff in completing tasks to agreed standards and deadlines
  • Support process reviews and improvements to maximize air activity performance
  • Follow emergency preparedness practices to support rapid crisis response

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of secondary school education
  • Post-secondary certificates in air traffic control, flight dispatch, aeronautical engineering, or related field are essential for Air Operations roles and desirable for Air Movement roles
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the aviation industry
  • Experience in restricted flying zones and other aviation risks, and assisting in flight planning
  • Experience in booking and ticketing
  • Experience handling passenger and cargo manifests, passenger and cargo handling, and aircraft loading
  • Experience interpreting routine weather reports
  • Experience in basic flight following and radio telephony procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes and other related tools
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple requests while maintaining precision and professionalism
  • Ability to anticipate operational needs and propose practical solutions
  • Ability to represent the UNHAS service professionally to passengers, partners, and authorities
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic
  • All selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks
