About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor WFP’s El Niño-related and other preparedness, anticipatory action, response, and recovery activities
  • Collect, verify, consolidate, and analyze data from field activities, partners, and government counterparts
  • Prepare monitoring tools, activity trackers, field visit reports, situation updates, and other information products
  • Verify planned distributions of cash and early recovery assistance and resolve or escalate routine issues
  • Collect and summarize assistance data in sampled remote locations and prepare reports for programme reviews
  • Supervise third-party monitors in person and remotely as needed
  • Liaise with government, cooperating partners, and internal counterparts to gather feedback and improve services
  • Suggest improvements to field monitoring processes and procedures
  • Arrange meetings with community leaders, government, and cooperating partners regarding distributions and entitlements
  • Facilitate community feedback and document, refer, follow up, and report complaints and protection concerns
  • Monitor food commodity prices and prepare summaries for analysis, early warning, cash transfer value reviews, and operational decisions
  • Train cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools, and methodologies
  • Prepare field mission reports and other monitoring documentation
  • Perform other monitoring and field-related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of secondary school education
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience with UN agencies, NGOs, government institutions, academia or private sector, focused on disaster management, resilience, humanitarian, development, or related programmes and activities
  • Demonstrated field experience working in remote or hard-to-reach locations
  • Experience collecting programme output and outcome data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, and preparing reports and findings for management teams, partners, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Knowledge of Filipino and/or local language(s) of the duty station is an advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and partnership-building skills
  • Knowledge of programme monitoring methodologies, data collection, verification, and reporting
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and establish positive working relationships with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work within tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience utilizing WFP monitoring and evaluation systems, tools, and standards is desirable
  • This position is open to Filipino nationals only
