About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contact property owners and public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals
- Conduct tree and brush inventories
- Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations
- Plan work for tree contractors
- Gather and manage field data, including tree species, size, and distance from conductors
- Validate data across database systems to ensure accurate reporting
- Verify summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around work areas
- Enforce on-the-job safety practices
- Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at work sites
- Service trucks and equipment and keep assigned equipment neat and orderly
- Travel outside as required
- Respond to emergencies or natural disasters for the duration of the disaster when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience in utility line clearance
- Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge
- Knowledge of tree growth rates
- Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
- Proficient in map navigation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software
- GIS experience is a plus
- Proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards
- Ability to interact with staff and other stakeholders
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and communicate with employees and vendors
- Potential overnight stays required
- Ability to work on duty for the duration of emergencies or natural disasters when required
