About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform aircraft maintenance, including inspection, operational testing, repair, and modification of aircraft electrical and avionics systems
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to employees
- Troubleshoot and rewire complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystem discrepancies and modifications
- Use schematic diagrams to diagnose and repair malfunctioning avionics, electrical, and environmental systems
- Use precision measuring instruments and test equipment for operational and functional checks
- Modify Company aircraft in accordance with approved engineering orders and STCs and document completion
- Maintain and repair aircraft avionics, electrical, flight environment, and air data components
- Manage the avionics, electrical, and environmental system maintenance effort for Company aircraft
- Provide day-to-day management of the avionics shop and technicians for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- Ensure compliance with Company safety policies and procedures
- Recommend budget, manpower, workforce, tooling, and spares needs
- Manage special projects, including STCs and modifications
- Coordinate with other departments on electrical systems maintenance issues
- Provide technical support to line stations
- Develop Company work cards and procedures for system testing and maintenance
- Advise on proposed avionics, electrical, and environmental modifications
- Track and evaluate avionics software upgrades and notify the Planner and Records Department of required incorporation
- Evaluate, train, support progression, and hire avionics technicians
- Act as point of contact for Avionics Systems
- Initiate avionics EOs, TDAs, and FCDs as required
- Manage aircraft FDR and CVR data systems
- Ensure technicians maintain current training status
- Ensure complete and accurate paperwork for aircraft and component work
- Perform other duties assigned by the General Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Airframe and Power Plant License
- Two years of avionics troubleshooting experience on equipment typically installed on aircraft
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft avionics systems functions and interactions
- Preferred experience performing checks and recertification of altimeters/encoding and transponders
- Thorough working knowledge of current FAA Regulations
- Thorough working knowledge and use of MM, IPC, SRM and other manufacturers repair and troubleshooting documents
- Thorough working knowledge of blueprints, work orders and task cards
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft accessories, components, and other hardware
- Comprehensive knowledge of estimating hours and materials for completing projects
- Complete knowledge of aircraft fasteners and applications
- Complete knowledge of related skill-area machines, equipment, and hand tools
- Ability to operate aircraft systems
- Ability to do engine run-up and trim engines
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Good command of the English language, written and verbal
- Valid driver's license
- Must wear appropriate PPE as designated in each work area
- Must successfully complete WASI indoctrination training within 90 days of hire
- Must successfully complete WASI training as assigned
