About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute and support assigned areas of the period-end financial close process
- Prepare, record, and review journal entries
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; research, support, and resolve reconciling items according to company policy
- Perform financial analysis of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
- Analyze financial results, identify trends and unusual fluctuations, investigate variances, and communicate findings and recommendations to management
- Collaborate on resolving accounting matters and assist business partners with accounting treatment and related activities
- Drive process improvement initiatives using automation, data analytics, and technology solutions
- Improve efficiency and reporting capabilities, strengthen controls, and reduce operational risk
- Contribute to SOX compliance, including maintaining process documentation, self-testing controls, managing audit requests, and developing remediation plans when needed
- Contribute to strategic Finance initiatives
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field is required
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in an accounting department and/or public accounting
- Previous experience within a publicly traded company, bank, financial services institution, or wealth management organization is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SOX and reporting requirements
- Understanding of banking and wealth management products and services, including deposits, loans, investments, trust and fiduciary activities, fee-based revenue, and applicable regulatory reporting requirements
- Previous experience with journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statement analysis
- Attention to detail and accuracy; ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently
- Process-driven approaches to identifying solutions and solving problems
- Strong sense of urgency
- Concise oral and written communications
- Ability to interact effectively with staff and management across the organization
- Proven ability to automate and/or streamline processes to improve effectiveness and/or efficiency and reduce risk
- Prior experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Teams
- Presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States
- Must not require work visa sponsorship from WSFS Bank now or in the future
