About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure all WVUHS hospitals comply with state and federal reimbursement regulations
- Manage preparation and analytical review of Medicare Cost Reports, WV HCA filings, and other reimbursement filings
- Review reimbursement regulations and present financial impacts of regulatory changes
- Communicate with external auditors, third party payors, and WV HCA staff regarding financial matters
- Coordinate net revenue budget development
- Monitor gross and net revenue, including contractual, bad debt, and charity reserves
- Coordinate payment requirement changes and their impact on financial reporting and statements
- Analyze and monitor financial terms of managed care contracts
- Ensure accurate reimbursement assumptions in long-range financial planning
- Coordinate revenue enhancement projects
- Work with legal counsel and the fiscal intermediary on Medicare appeal issues
- Develop staff development and orientation programs
- Monitor and document staff performance and apply rewards or disciplinary measures as needed
- Foster staff motivation and departmental goal achievement
- Provide leadership and direction to professional staff and maintain interdepartmental communication
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance
- Five (5) years of experience in healthcare finance or accounting
- Extensive knowledge of third party reimbursement regulations
- Effective verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Extensive knowledge of personal computers; Excel software is desirable
