About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently support the design, implementation, and maintenance of software systems
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide end-user training
  • Manage project coordination and ensure efficient delivery of technology solutions
  • Collaborate with senior analysts, experts, cross-functional teams, business partners, clinical leaders, and operational leadership
  • Diagnose and resolve IT issues and escalate as needed
  • Implement, test, modify, optimize, and document system workflows and updates
  • Perform functional and integrated testing and correct system errors
  • Manage user security settings and access control
  • Identify and implement system enhancements and optimization opportunities
  • Manage data imports/exports and generate basic reports
  • Plan and coordinate projects, including scope, deliverables, schedules, milestones, stakeholders, meetings, documentation, risks, and issues
  • Provide classroom, one-on-one, and remediation training and ongoing end-user support
  • Assess user readiness and develop training content
  • Lead the build, optimization, and rollout of the Guided Scheduling initiative
  • Support the full range of Epic Cadence functionality long-term
  • Translate department-specific scheduling rules into automated workflows
  • Design and build Cadence decision trees, questionnaires, and mapping logic
  • Analyze, clean up, and standardize legacy visit types across clinical specialties
  • Integrate scheduling workflows with template structures, automated workqueues, MyChart Open/Direct Scheduling, and Ticket Scheduling
  • Maintain technical knowledge through training, research, industry resources, workshops, and knowledge sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered
  • Relevant certifications and/or proficiencies may be required, with a target completion within 90 days following formal training provided by WVUHS Information Technology
  • Minimum one (1) year relevant experience preferred
  • Operational experience in applicable business, clinical, payer or web application systems, including workflows
  • Proficiency in systems administration
  • Experience working in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings
  • Understanding of clinical data management and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)
  • Knowledge of cloud-based healthcare applications and web services
  • Knowledge of reporting tools
  • Deep understanding of patient access/scheduling workflows
  • Proven track record of successful Epic Cadence implementations
  • Experience with advanced scheduling tools including decision trees and mapping logic, visit type consolidation, workqueues, provider search terms, and template optimization
  • Hands-on experience designing and building Cadence decision trees, questionnaires, and mapping logic
  • Experience standardizing legacy visit types and integrating them with template structures and automated scheduling workqueues
  • Demonstrated experience with MyChart Open/Direct Scheduling and Ticket Scheduling
  • Ability to travel to other WVUHS facilities or affiliated sites as required
  • Ability to perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Strong analysis, assessment, troubleshooting, testing, communication, relationship-building, teamwork, adaptability, change-management, and time-management skills
