About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently support the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of software systems
- Troubleshoot system issues, correct errors, manage user security, and resolve high-priority incidents
- Implement, modify, and test system updates, workflows, and integrations
- Perform functional and integrated testing and document results
- Manage data imports, exports, and basic reporting
- Identify and implement system enhancements and process improvements
- Collaborate with senior analysts, experts, business partners, clinical leaders, operational leadership, vendors, and stakeholders
- Gather requirements and translate department-specific scheduling rules into automated workflows
- Help lead the build, optimization, and rollout of the Guided Scheduling initiative
- Support Epic Cadence functionality, including decision trees, questionnaires, mapping logic, visit types, templates, workqueues, and provider search terms
- Standardize legacy visit types across clinical specialties and integrate them with scheduling templates and workqueues
- Extend scheduling workflows to MyChart Open/Direct Scheduling and Ticket Scheduling
- Coordinate projects, including planning, scope, deliverables, schedules, milestones, meetings, documentation, risks, and issues
- Provide classroom, one-on-one, remediation, and ongoing end-user systems training and support
- Assess user readiness and contribute to training curricula and materials
- Maintain continuous technical learning and share knowledge with peers and teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or a minimum of four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Relevant certifications and/or proficiencies may be required, with a target completion within 90 days following formal training provided by WVUHS Information Technology
- Minimum one year of relevant experience preferred
- Operational experience in applicable business, clinical, payer or web application systems, including workflows
- Proficiency in systems administration
- Experience working in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings
- Understanding of clinical data management and healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, FHIR, and DICOM
- Knowledge of cloud-based healthcare applications and web services
- Knowledge of reporting tools
- Deep understanding of patient access and scheduling workflows
- Proven track record of successful Epic Cadence implementations
- Experience with advanced scheduling tools, including decision trees, mapping logic, visit type consolidation, workqueues, provider search terms, and template optimization
- Hands-on experience designing and building Cadence decision trees, questionnaires, and mapping logic
- Experience analyzing, cleaning up, and standardizing legacy visit types across clinical specialties
- Experience integrating scheduling workflows with template structures and automated scheduling workqueues
- Demonstrated experience with MyChart Open/Direct Scheduling and Ticket Scheduling
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, testing, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, adaptability, change management, and time-management skills
- Ability to travel to other WVUHS facilities or affiliated sites as required
