About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Monitor assigned patients visually and audibly at all times
Remain at the assigned patient’s bedside unless relieved by appropriate staff
Verbally redirect patients from at-risk behaviors
Complete observation reports at assigned times
Respond compassionately and supportively to patient, staff, visitor, and colleague needs
Immediately summon nursing staff for patient assistance, control, nursing interventions, unusual behavior, or concerning verbalizations
Identify and report patient safety issues and hazards to the charge nurse
Assist in calming or reorienting patients experiencing distress or confusion
Help keep patient rooms safe and orderly
Escort patients for diagnostic testing
Participate in shift handoffs and ensure coverage during meal breaks and before leaving patients
Assist with dietary trays, meal setup, basic positioning, wheelchair rides, and safe ambulation as directed by the RN
Respond rapidly to emergencies and special needs
Follow supervisor and hospital staff direction, department policies, educational programs, confidentiality requirements, and patient rights policies
Assist other associates and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
CPR AED or basic life support healthcare provider (BLS-HCP) certification required; training and certifications will be provided by Xanitos
Ability to read and understand written English communication, including patient identifiers, pick and receiving location, isolation precaution notifications, and other important patient information
Post-offer medical screening, background screening, and drug test required
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment
Ability to perform physical duties including sitting, standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to meet visual requirements including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Ability to work around fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts
Ability to follow confidentiality, HIPAA, patient rights, safety, attendance, dress, hygiene, and behavioral requirements
