About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement lighting for characters and environments in pre-rendered and real-time shots
- Maintain overall look, color balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences
- Integrate and develop FX with the FX department
- Collaborate with VFX supervisors, Art Directors, Producers, Lighting/Compositing Supervisor, and Leads to achieve the final look
- Meet productivity and quota targets
- Complete and quality-control all lighting and compositing of shots
- Contribute to Blizzard Entertainment’s game and cinematic projects, including worlds such as Diablo, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, and StarCraft
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8 years of experience in a game, TV, feature film, or commercial production environment
- Experience working with Directors, Lighting Supervisors and/or Leads to develop, define, and maintain lighting and compositing setups
- Demo reel showcasing refined artistic understanding of light, composition, and mood
- Proficiency in Katana, Nuke, Maya, Linux, Renderman-RIS, and Redshift
- Decent understanding of modern game engines
- Ability to adapt to new pipelines and proprietary lighting tools
- Ability to independently design, implement, and troubleshoot complex multi-shot lighting and compositing setups
- Strong understanding of cinematic lighting, color grading, and shot continuity
- Ability to determine approaches to lighting and compositing challenges and develop the final overall look
- Experience with 2D tracking, layering elements, color grading, roto work, projection of elements, and extensive 3D compositing
- Comfortable working in an iteration-intensive shot pipeline
- Experience in a full 3D animated pipeline (extra points)
- Experience in a real-time game engine pipeline (extra points)
