About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a team of 10 with responsibility for technical and delivery outcomes, including quality, security, performance, and scalability
Create a culture of ownership and accountability and remove blockers
Organize work, set milestones, and prioritize and communicate engineering or quality backlogs to Product Owners
Enable testing, automation, observability, and documentation
Track engineering and quality metrics and improve delivery processes
Manage incidents affecting the team or area and establish on-call rotas and playbooks
Maintain a healthy shipping cadence while balancing short-term and long-term priorities
Improve developer experience and the software development life cycle at XTM
Communicate team progress and achievements to relevant stakeholders
Support implementation of an AIDLC and promote agent-driven development

Requirements

What you’ll need

Seasoned leadership experience creating an inclusive environment and adapting ways of working
Experience setting development goals and milestones for direct reports
Experience participating in interviews and recruiting engineering talent
Experience identifying and addressing flight risks and retention issues
Experience delivering constructive feedback and supporting peer feedback practices
Experience managing individual performance concerns
Experience representing engineers in calibration and promotion forums
Experience fostering healthy team dynamics and resolving interpersonal conflicts
Experience building relationships with product, design, data, and customer success teams
Ability to translate company objectives and engineering goals into individual tasks
Strong backend technical skills, particularly Java and AWS infrastructure
Competent communicator in English
Experience implementing an AIDLC is a distinct advantage
