About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, coordinate, and execute inspection activities for pressure vessels, reactors, columns, heat exchangers, piping systems, and storage tanks across Ammonia, Urea, and Utility plants
- Ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements for pressure vessel inspections, piping thickness measurements, lifting tools and tackles inspections, and fitness-for-service assessments
- Review and interpret inspection and NDT data and recommend corrective, preventive, and life-extension actions
- Define inspection scope and support execution during plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance activities
- Apply welding engineering, welding metallurgy, corrosion mechanisms, and material degradation knowledge
- Prepare and review WPS, PQR, repair procedures, and metallurgical recommendations
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate advanced heat exchanger tube inspection techniques including RFET, ECT, and IRIS
- Review conventional and advanced NDT results, including RT, UT, MPT, DPT, PMI, and hardness testing
- Coordinate condition monitoring activities including oil analysis, vibration monitoring, thermography, and machinery health assessments
- Support rotor balancing, reliability improvement, process safety management, RCA, HAZOP, HIRA, safety audits, and RBI studies
- Lead and supervise inspection engineers, technicians, and contractor personnel
- Carry out daily job and resource planning and ensure safe, quality execution of inspection work
- Prepare technical reports, inspection documentation, statutory records, and inspection history
- Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, BOQs, and enquiry documents for inspection, NDT, and CMC contracts
- Coordinate with Purchase and Contracts departments for technical evaluation, procurement, and contract execution
- Support planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control for inspection and reliability functions
- Ensure compliance with IMS, statutory and regulatory requirements, including AERB guidelines for radiography and radiation safety
- Implement Safety and HESQ policies, respond to incidents, address audit recommendations, and arrange training for employees and contractors
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (B.Tech./B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized and reputed college or university
- Consistently good academic record in Class 10, Class 12, and B.Tech./B.E.
- 6–10 years of post-qualification experience in inspection, mechanical integrity, and condition monitoring within large continuous process industries
- Experience in Ammonia-Urea fertilizer plants or comparable petrochemical, refinery, or continuous process manufacturing environments preferred
- Working knowledge of SAP, preferably PM/MM modules
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, BIS, IBR, and other engineering codes and standards
- Sound knowledge of engineering metallurgy, welding processes, WPS, and PQR
- Knowledge of advanced inspection and NDT techniques for critical process equipment
- Proficiency in computers and digital tools
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking mandatory
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- ASNT Level I/II certification in DPT, MPI, UT, or RT preferred
- Exposure to vibration analysis Category/Level I or II desirable
- Hindi proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking preferred
