About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the full lifecycle of Power BI report and dashboard development, from requirements gathering and wireframes through semantic model alignment, DAX, Power Query, visual design, user acceptance testing, and production deployment
- Build and maintain dashboards for policy administration, claims analysis, premium reporting, loss ratios, dealer solutions metrics, pricing analytics, and operational KPIs
- Translate insurance business data into actionable, self-explanatory visualizations
- Align Power BI semantic models with certified Snowflake semantic views and governed data definitions
- Apply UI/UX design standards for layout, color schemes, navigation, and accessibility
- Create reusable dashboard templates and visual patterns
- Implement and maintain row-level security
- Support deployment governance across Dev, Pre-Prod, and Prod environments, including CAB reviews and release notes
- Monitor and optimize report performance using aggregations, query folding, incremental refresh, and model size reduction
- Collaborate with team leads, data modelers, ETL developers, business analysts, and project managers
- Participate in CAB reviews, maintain weekly release notes and user guides, and support business-user onboarding to Power BI
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or report development
- 3+ years hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Strong proficiency in DAX and Power Query / M
- Experience designing and optimizing semantic models, including relationships and star schemas
- Experience selecting Import versus DirectQuery mode
- Demonstrated UI/UX design skills for intuitive, accessible, visually polished dashboards
- Experience implementing row-level security (RLS)
- Experience with environment-based deployment governance (Dev/Test/Prod)
- Strong SQL proficiency
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed, global team
- Preferred: Power BI Paginated Report Builder
- Preferred: Experience connecting Power BI to Snowflake
- Preferred: Familiarity with Snowflake semantic views or governed data layers
- Preferred: Experience with Streamlit or other lightweight data application frameworks
- Preferred: Exposure to self-service analytics platforms or natural language query tools
- Preferred: Insurance, financial services, or regulated industry domain experience
- Preferred: Experience with Power BI REST APIs, deployment pipelines, or CI/CD for BI assets
- Preferred: Power BI certifications (PL-300 or equivalent)
