About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain and extend a production SMS/MMS/RCS/Voice messaging platform integrated with Cvent and Adobe Campaign Manager for a pharmaceutical client's event engagement program
Design, build, and maintain serverless functions, conversational flows, data pipelines, and integrations
Develop and maintain Twilio Functions using Node.js for SMS/MMS handling, keyword routing, consent management, and third-party API integrations
Build and debug Twilio Studio Flows, including keyword routing, function widgets, Content Templates, and HTTP callbacks
Manage Twilio Sync Maps as the real-time data layer for contacts, consent tracking, and audit logs
Manage Content Template Builder templates, including versioning across QA/PROD and SID coordination
Configure Messaging Services, sender pools, Advanced Opt-Out, branded link shortening, click tracking, and callbacks
Set up RCS Business Messaging and use the Lookup API for phone validation, line status, and reassigned number checks
Build SFTP, message log export, and Event Streams data pipelines
Handle MMS media processing and cleanup
Investigate production incidents, analyze logs and error codes, identify carrier behavior, and produce RCA reports
Maintain technical documentation, including TRDs, functional specifications, data models, and UAT test cases
Manage deployments across QA and PROD sub-accounts, including number porting and toll-free verification
Participate in client-facing documentation and stakeholder discussions

Requirements

What you’ll need

1+ years hands-on experience with Twilio or similar cloud communication platforms
Strong JavaScript / Node.js skills
Experience with async/await
REST API development and consumption
Experience with Twilio Functions, Studio, Sync Maps/Lists, Messaging Services, Content Template Builder, Lookup v2 API, Messages API, and Event Streams
Knowledge of SMS/MMS/RCS, GSM-7 vs UCS-2 encoding, segment calculation, A2P messaging, and carrier behavior
Knowledge of A2P 10DLC registration process and timelines
Knowledge of TCPA consent handling, CTIA guidelines, double opt-in, opt-out behavior, Advanced Opt-Out limitations, and pharma adverse event reporting
Experience with third-party webhook payloads and bi-directional marketing automation integrations
Knowledge of Basic Auth / API Key authentication, JSON, and form-urlencoded payloads
Debugging via logs
Understanding of API rate limits, payload size constraints, and timeout handling in serverless environments
Proficiency with Postman, Twilio Console, JIRA, and Git
Experience in agile teams with JIRA-based project management
Strong written and verbal communication
Twilio Organizations, subaccounts, and domain verification knowledge is good to have
Pharma/healthcare SMS program experience is good to have
Adobe Journey Optimizer, Epsilon/ACM, or similar marketing automation platform experience is good to have
SIP Trunking / Twilio Voice knowledge is good to have
