About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create 2D drawings of machine parts and tooling from existing models
Apply functional dimensioning and tolerances appropriate to each part’s requirements
Prepare complete drawing packages, including assembly drawings, detail drawings, and bills of materials
Finalize ongoing mechanical design projects by taking over previously designed assemblies
Adapt each drawing to the available manufacturing methods and processes to ensure manufacturability
Prepare supplier RFQ packages with the drawings and information required for pricing
Check drawings for consistency and completeness before release
Liaise with mechanical engineers to resolve outstanding design issues
Maintain and track document updates in the team’s tools

Requirements

What you’ll need

You are an experienced mechanical design draftsperson, comfortable creating tooling drawings, ideally in the aerospace or special-purpose machinery industries
You have a strong understanding of functional dimensioning
You understand the methods and processes used to manufacture parts
You are proficient in 2D drafting and drawing package preparation
You can finalize designs based on previously designed parts and assemblies
Experience with Inventor is an advantage but not required
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA is sufficient for a quick transition
