About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage, coach, and grow a team of product managers
- Establish product responsibilities, goals, and decision-making expectations
- Build practices for planning, roadmap reviews, customer feedback, and performance measurement
- Recruit and develop product talent
- Own portfolio strategy aligned with broader business direction
- Guide product visions and roadmaps
- Prioritize across roadmaps and shared capabilities
- Validate use cases and commercial demand for new data sources
- Identify portfolio gaps, overlap, and dataset combination opportunities
- Recommend offerings to scale, improve, consolidate, or retire
- Serve as hands-on product manager for a strategically important data feed or quant-focused initiative
- Lead customer discovery, investigate data, and translate customer needs into product decisions
- Partner with Data, Engineering, Data Science, and Quant Research to assess feasibility and launch products
- Improve products through client evaluation and integration feedback
- Share accountability for portfolio revenue growth, retention, expansion, and product economics
- Partner on pricing, packaging, positioning, sales, and evaluation processes
- Define and track customer adoption, evaluation conversion, time to value, retention, and commercial results
- Establish expectations for data quality, coverage, timeliness, documentation, and delivery
- Partner on quality controls, monitoring, change management, and issue resolution
- Improve customer discovery, evaluation, onboarding, integration, and support for feeds
- Ensure clients understand methodologies, limitations, historical changes, and use cases
- Build a repeatable experience for quant and systematic customers
- Align Product, Data, Engineering, Research, Quant, Applications, and commercial teams
- Partner with Quant Research on systematic investor requirements
- Evaluate data opportunities against customer needs, licensing constraints, quality, and economics
- Communicate strategy, tradeoffs, progress, and risks to leadership and cross-functional partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant product management experience, typically 7+ years, including ownership of commercial data products, data feeds, or similarly data-intensive B2B products
- Experience directly managing and developing product managers
- Track record of taking products from customer discovery through launch and scaling, with measurable customer and business outcomes
- Strong portfolio judgment and prioritization skills
- Commercial fluency, including pricing, packaging, revenue growth, retention, or product economics
- Proficiency in SQL and comfort using Python to investigate data and assess product questions
- Technical fluency in data products, including schemas, methodologies, quality, delivery mechanisms, and implications of product changes
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
- Desire to remain a hands-on product owner while building and leading a team
- Preferred: experience with alternative data, financial data, or investment research products
- Preferred: familiarity with fundamental, quantitative, or systematic investment workflows, including dataset evaluation, backtesting, and integration
- Preferred: experience building portfolios serving multiple customer segments or combining multiple data sources
- Preferred: experience with third-party data partnerships, licensing considerations, and vendor dependencies
- Preferred: familiarity with APIs, cloud-based data delivery, and data quality and operational reliability practices
