About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform day-to-day operations and maintenance, including fault diagnosis, location and rectification
  • Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown response on generator sets with minimum outages
  • Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical plant, including pumps and motors
  • Maintain and inspect LV electrical equipment subject to training and competency
  • Operate HV switchgear subject to training and competency
  • Commission new builds and associated equipment, from generators to telephone-line communications
  • Incorporate new sites into Operations
  • Work on and monitor the gasfield to maintain generator fuel supply
  • Repair and maintain generators
  • Train, support and supervise Operations Technicians in minor maintenance and simple fault finding
  • Provide 24-hour emergency call-out cover for generator-set failures when necessary
  • Order spares and control stock
  • Maintain clean, well-run sites
  • Supervise contractors
  • Implement HSQE systems and company protection procedures
  • Conduct air-emissions monitoring
  • Respond to environmental spillages using pollution-prevention equipment
  • Complete outstanding works raised by site audits
  • Control generator operating costs
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and environmental procedures
  • Manage time and travel effectively, including staying away from home where appropriate
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations and Projects teams and report to the Assistant Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Recognised level in an electrical skill or relevant experience in the field
  • Experience with electric control systems 12v DC – 415v AC 30ø
  • Fault location, diagnosis and rectification
  • Experience working with Landfill Gas, specialist fuels and/or generators is advantageous
  • Computer literate
  • Full UK driver’s licence
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Prioritisation skills
  • Supervision skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to schedule and prioritise own work to achieve agreed targets
  • Capability to identify and implement solutions to a wide range of problems
  • Ability to make day-to-day decisions within company policies and procedures
