About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Credit Strategy for the US market.
- Directly contribute to US business KPIs, including growth, profitability, and loss rate.
- Collaborate with Credit Risk colleagues across geographic markets by sharing tools, insights, innovations, and emerging risks.
- Own and deliver key projects supporting the US Credit Strategy development and innovation roadmap.
- Continuously develop and innovate Credit Strategy capabilities.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends in credit quality, losses, and early risk indicators.
- Prepare risk reporting and insights for senior management, including supporting Credit Committee discussions.
- Recommend actions to mitigate emerging risks and optimise portfolio outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with credit risk analysts, underwriters, and wider business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the Credit Risk centre of excellence and uphold company culture and values.
- Ensure actions and strategies align with US Risk Governance Frameworks, Credit Risk Policy, and process documentation.
- Report to Elliot Jackson.
- Work directly with the US team and central Credit Risk function in London.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years of experience in credit risk, underwriting, or a related risk management function within financial services, fintech, lending, or commercial credit.
- Proven understanding of credit underwriting principles, data science model application, risk appetite frameworks, and portfolio risk management.
- Outstanding quantitative and deductive reasoning skills.
- Ability to identify insights in complex multi-dimensional data sets and autonomously develop and pursue solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining risk concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to evaluate financial statements, cash flow, and credit data to inform structured risk decisions.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Competent SQL skills.
- Nice to have: Python skills.
- Nice to have: Experience in SME Lending.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with US lending regulations and compliance requirements.
- Nice to have: Experience working across international teams.
