About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, schedule, and perform instrumentation and controls engineering assignments requiring independent judgment
  • Develop and review instrumentation deliverables including Instrument Indexes, Instrument Data Sheets, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Location Plans, and Specifications
  • Develop control system deliverables including I/O Lists, Cause & Effect Matrices, Control Narratives, and Logic Diagrams
  • Support design and implementation of DCS, PLC, HMI, and related control technologies
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines
  • Review vendor documentation and technical proposals
  • Perform field investigations and site walks; support startup and commissioning
  • Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, project estimates, and equipment specifications
  • Troubleshoot control systems and provide technical solutions
  • Apply applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project planning activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • 5-10+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation design, control systems engineering, and industrial automation
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or PLC-based control systems
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement technologies
  • Experience developing engineering deliverables such as Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, Control Narratives, and Instrument Data Sheets
  • Familiarity with industrial, utility, energy, power generation, manufacturing, or process facilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and related design tools
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, field investigations, and commissioning support
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure is preferred
  • Experience with power generation facilities, control system platforms, CEMS, startup/commissioning, field support, EPC, or consulting engineering is preferred
