About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own platform foundations end-to-end, from AWS architecture and infrastructure as code to CI/CD, observability, and incident readiness
- Build and evolve secure, scalable AWS infrastructure covering networking, compute, storage, and IAM, optimized for reliability and cost
- Design and maintain fast, repeatable, developer-friendly GitHub CI/CD pipelines with clear feedback loops, safe deployments, and strong defaults
- Define and operate infrastructure using Terraform with clean modules, sensible standards, and automated validation
- Improve developer experience through golden paths, templates, self-service environments, paved deployment roads, and internal tooling
- Drive availability, scalability, and resilience through deployment strategies, rollbacks, capacity planning, disaster recovery thinking, and performance tuning
- Implement security-by-default practices including least-privilege IAM, secrets management, secure supply chain, and enabling guardrails
- Establish and refine observability and reliability practices including SLOs, SLIs, monitoring, alerting, postmortems, and runbooks
- Partner with product engineering to reduce operational load and maintain delivery velocity as Zalion grows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience as a Platform, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineer in product teams shipping to production
- Deep practical knowledge of AWS, including networking, IAM, security controls, and designing for failure
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform, including modules, state strategy, DRY patterns, environment separation, and automated reviews
- Solid CI/CD engineering experience with GitHub, including pipeline design, artifact/versioning, deployment safety, and fast feedback loops
- Strong reliability and operability mindset, including failure modes, automation, and measurable outcomes such as SLOs
- Security awareness and discipline, including building guardrails that make the secure path easy
- Builder mindset with experience shipping improvements, measuring impact through lead time, deploy frequency, and MTTR, and iterating
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership, proactively identifying and fixing platform bottlenecks
- 4+ years of experience in relevant roles
- Startup or scale-up experience is a plus
- Experience with AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions, CI/CD workflows, containers orchestration, observability tooling, and security tooling such as SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secrets scanning, and policy as code
