About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assess power price, congestion, basis, and curtailment risk for prospective projects and translate them into project economics and recommended underwriting prices
Compare candidate power markets and recommend where Zanskar should focus
Build on existing financial models to create investment cases for proposed deal terms and structures
Analyze pricing, underlying costs, and customer economics to shape deals and pressure-test commercial terms
Research behind-the-meter geothermal development, including regulatory questions and customer needs, and work with counsel on legal conclusions
Turn open-ended questions into structured work plans and build initial models, processes, or templates
Consult market experts and synthesize input on market rules, products, and risks
Write concise recommendation memos for senior leadership, including the CEO
Independently flag issues, challenge assumptions, and investigate them
Partner with the finance team on shared models while owning day-to-day commercial analysis

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience analyzing power markets, energy commercial strategy, or a closely related field
Hands-on experience building or extending financial models in Excel or similar tools
Track record of producing written recommendations or analyses that informed a business decision
Understanding of power markets, including congestion, basis, curtailment, and ancillary services
Experience with nodal markets or ability to get up to speed quickly
Ability to build investment cases and connect price, cost, and deal-term assumptions to project returns
Ability to structure ambiguous problems and build first versions without an existing template
Ability to write concise recommendations for senior leadership
Familiarity with nodal markets, congestion and basis, or ancillary services preferred
Experience building or critiquing power price forecasts preferred
Exposure to PPAs, hedging, or capacity markets preferred
