About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the design, planning, and operational execution of drilling campaigns from temperature gradient wells to full-size production and injection geothermal well construction, including completions
Own the technical, business, and operational aspects of drilling
Develop and implement step-by-step well program designs to achieve well objectives and comply with regulatory and HSE requirements
Provide technical and management support for daily drilling activities
Serve as the primary point of contact for field engineering issues
Design, procure, and write procedures for ESP installations
Work on completions designs for EGS stimulations
Negotiate drilling and completions service contracts and materials cost estimates
Support cross-functional field development optimization through well planning, in-field mobilization, and design optimization
Compile technical and operations data for permitting and regulatory filings
Lead after-action reviews, identify best practices and lessons learned, and provide benchmarking and end-of-project reports
Prepare tenders, analyze vendor responses, and support contract negotiation and administration
Travel frequently to field locations to oversee operations and coordinate with contracted drillers, field personnel, vendors, and suppliers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Hands-on field experience in drilling engineering, completions, or operations
Competent with standard drilling calculations
Competent with drill string design
Competent with casing design
Experience with EGS stimulation design preferred
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred
Geothermal experience preferred
Experience with procurement and onboarding new vendors
Ability to evaluate drilling contractors’ performance and manage improvements in speed and cost
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to field locations
Ability to understand and manage risk trade-offs for safe, standardized operations and well control
Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment and shift priorities based on business needs
