About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform feature analysis, architecture, design, component selection, and circuit design to meet cost and manufacturability requirements
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts, and create components and footprints in Altium
  • Conduct hardware fault analysis and safety design
  • Perform design validation and testing
  • Design for EMC, comply with standards, and support testing
  • Contribute to firmware development, including BSP/driver development, features, required calculations, radio stacks, and power-consumption optimization
  • Plan and prioritize tasks, proactively monitor progress, and comply with scheduled delivery dates
  • Develop and support hardware programming, verification, and calibration in mass production
  • Collaborate with the Zelp Sense team on wearable-device electronics and other projects
  • Develop and test electronics using MCUs, MPUs, sensors, and long-range low-power radio communication with cloud infrastructure

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience in electronics development of modern devices or commercial products
  • 3+ years of experience with Altium Designer, schematic, component library management, and multi-layered layout
  • Peripheral configuration, coding, and debugging experience with ARM Cortex M processors
  • Experience with LP radios and wireless protocols, including BLE, LoRa, NFC, and Zigbee
  • Experience in network communications and IoT, including UDP/TCP/IP, MQTT, LWM2M, HTTP, and REST
  • Experience with electronic communication standards, including RS232, I2C, SPI, and USB
  • Experience with product compliance (RED/CE/FCC), including testing, documentation, and certification
  • Experience with product testing harnesses and documentation
  • Experience with low-power electronics design
  • Experience developing PC apps to interact with hardware is a bonus
  • C#/Python programming experience is a bonus
  • NI LabView experience for quick prototyping, lab testing, and test harnesses is a bonus
  • Experience with RISC-V processors is a bonus
  • Hardware test harness and firmware development for automated tests in mass production is a bonus
  • Embedded Linux experience, kernel cross-compilation for ARM Cortex A processors, device tree, U-Boot, and driver development is a bonus
